Silver Nitrate

G'day All,
I am currently running around the place with spots of Silver Nitrate all over my neck - result of a medical procedure. And, of course, I have forgotten how to rid myself of silver nitrate stains.
Can anyone give me a safe method of cleaning up my skin.
Thank you

Re: Just bragging really

Well Kirsten, I can well understand the value of the place where you live. Lucky for me, I detest the heat and thus live in an area that suits my purpose. I do not have those beauties at my school, however, the family of magpies that I hand feed every year do appreciate the rail on our front porch. ...

Re: Need ideas for lab refurbishment

Hi Cecilia, Forget the labs. Congratulations on being a Grandmother for the first time. There is nothing like it in the world. It is like being reborn with all the naivety and wonder that the world holds for that little one and you get to share in it. As someone with 4 grandchildren (no more to come...

Re: What to wear

My first school, a State High School, once had a principal who insisted that all male staff wear ties. He even threatened to dismiss a particular teacher if he did not wear a tie the following Monday. Come Monday, Screamer (teacher's nickname) attended school not wearing a tie around his neck but a ...

Re: Written down prep time

Looking at what is done in our jobs, the minimum requirement must be 48 hours notice. Why? We need to organise our day. I try to make sure that all of Wednesday's pracs. are out before I leave Tuesday night. I believe we are all the same with this. To do this, we need to know before Tuesday morning ...

Re: Glass rod puzzle

I must admit I bought the plastic stirring rods about 3 years ago and have not looked back. There are only 2 problems. 1. Students might burn them. 2. Students have cut the ends off. However, they don't break in the students' hands creating danger and of the 40 I bought 3 years ago, I still have 40....

Notice there were no ladies in your picture. There must have been large sums taken out of insurance before this picture was taken.

I would just like to know how many wines Loopy has had today. My mind can be quite abstract, I am told, but no way does this describe Loopy's comment.

Well Mother, I was going to suggest the same thing. We are all brilliant, we know that, but there are some things that teachers have to do for themselves. Surely!!!!!!!!!

Re: Cyclone in a bottle

One can actually buy a connecting lid that screws onto both bottles. From National Geographic, Professor Bunsen and other Scientific stores. Costs about $4-5 I think.

Re: HELP - Chemical problems

Call the Union that this woman belongs to so that all areas of achieving success may be looked at. She could also ask the Union to get a Workcover inspector to come to the school to check out any OHS problems that might be occurring. The Workcover inspector could audit the school! Now, because she i...

In Melbourne, I do not live that far from an oil refinery. And they gave me Bass Strait light oil. Maybe you could do that same up in Sydney. Find out who the Public Relations Manager of your nearest oil refinery is and get in touch. You would have to collect it of course. But, depending where you l...

Hi Donna, Yes, there is the ltav-list we have down here in Victoria, however, I do find the system we are on now offers a more varied approach to the issue than the other. Why? With the ltav-list you can have stacks of emails hogging your email address about something you are not at all interested i...

Mine is similar to Donna's. Fill a petrie dish with milk, full cream, and place one drop of food colouring on the outer edge. Now put another drop, different colour, 1/3 around the edge. And do this again. Now place one drop of detergent in the middle of the petrie dish and watch the three colours s...

I must admit I have not looked for wax tapers for years. If I want long, thin type lighters now, I usually buy those long, colourful birthday candles. These are similar to wax tapers, probably just a tiny bit thinner. Good Luck

All Victorian State schools have their own access to Chemwatch. The government pays for it. I don't know if the private or religious schools have to pay for its use separately.

Re: swapping Jobs???

One of the things I love about my job is the solitary nature of it. My normal personality is quite extrovert, however, helping out in the office has taught me quite a bit about myself. For example, I do NOT want the heater on if I am not cold. I may want the air conditioner on but others not. The st...
