Re: Dissolved CO2 Sensor

Yes we use these all the time and have a class set. We used then on a regular basis for CO2 gas and probably 4 times per year for dissolved. So we only purchased 5 sleeves for our sensors. They are so easy to use and have very good repeatable results. If you have the cash, a good investment. You run...

We use the mini SDS's out on the carts in the class, works well. Teachers are more inclined to pick up a mini SDS than the full one

Re: GelRed Nucleic Acid Gel Stain

Very specific.... can you use a different stain ?. New England BioLabs would be the people I would contact. https://www.neb.com/en-au They also offer small samples so you could try.

GELRED® is a registered trademark of Biotium. https://www.gelredaustralia.com.au/

Re: Chemical disposal

Excellent work, thanks for raising this. Just a good reminder to check everything . My biggest bill for waste was 2.5K one year and it was an epic clean out of old and nasty crap, 10 years of hoarding by previous staff ...... I think I'd die if I saw a 5K bill for a general clean out.

OMG !!!!! yes would never do a pop test with a gas syringe. Ours are used in the holders where they physically can't expel the plungers out all the way... for good reason as you've shown hey !!

Yep, just the solutions and powders you buy... no diluted solutions. No glue sticks, spray and wipe ect.

I do however put the bulk chemicals the cleaners and canteen ladies have onsite as they nasty..

Re: A suitable demo?

One of our crazy old school chemistry teachers has a 1 M long piece of wood, has drilled little divots in it about 10cm apart. I fill each divot with a salt, we splash ethanol over the top carefully and light her up. Lovely in the dark all the coloured flames.

Our teachers do this demo. Is done in a fume hood and a lab tech is always on hand. We use smaller quantities though. I can't see an issue with it.
