I use Aluminium Potassium Sulfate (Potash Alum) when ever i am making crystal that ask for Alum. Our teachers said it is the same. the above sounds great would any lab assistants in the Quirindi/Tamworth/Gunnedah/Scone area be interested in doing something like that. A get together even if we only do it once a term and include Home science and even the Library.

cleaning out the old distiller
When ever I have finished with the distiller for the term I soak overnight with vinegar then rinse the following morning. If you give it a scub in the morning this lifts any hard to remove matter.
