Re: Osmosis and diffusion

We use Aqueous iodine solution, I've attached a photo for the recipe.
And also a 1% or 1.5 % starch solution
Hope this helps

Re: Phenolphthalein Agar

Hey, So in the past when I've made the agar, it looks set but the bottom layer seems to crumble and not set properly. We usually let it set overnight out of the fridge, then the next day in the fridge. (2 days for colour to develop well and set) Should I put it straight in the fridge or keep it out?...

Re: Storing electrical leadsl

We do the same. Keep them on a wire hanger. Works well for us

Re: Interchangeable joint kit

Thanks for your help. We tried the reflux column like you suggested and the teacher said it worked well (these photos are after the prac)
They ended up getting more distilled with the reflux column, (they had the original set up for comparison)

Re: Interchangeable joint kit

Morning,

I have a teacher wanting to distill 50% ethanol and water but need to heat it at 80 degrees so the water doesn't boil.
Is there a way to put a thermometer in the quick fit set up to monitor this?
Thanks!

Re: Chair Damage

I work one day a week at another school, and the head teacher just told me that its happening here too!
They thankfully caught some students to stop it before it got worse.
Can't believe they do this

Re: Hazardous Chemical Register

Hi All, So I'm trying to complete the chemical stocktake, (I did most of it in term 2, so I know it worked) and now that I've logged back in on the work computer after having it updated, the CSIS excel program won't run the stocktake. Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone still use the CSI...
