hydrogen peroxide

Hi All,
it's been a while since we talked.
Does anyone have a system for dispensing hydrogn peroxide to classes?
I favour the containers they come in with the paper valve on top.
When we use dropper bottles the teat swells dangerously....

Re: Magnets

Hi All,
the people at Walchope where we bought our bar magnets years ago, have a service where they re-magnetise them, paint them and supply new spacers and keepers if needed. All at a very reasonable price,
Cheers,

Re: Microscope Repairs

Hi Mary,
I have recommended John Reed, many times but you would need to check with him about microscopes. Having said that he helped us out. I can PM you with the details if you would like?
Cheers,

Butyric acid

Hello all, it seems there is nothing that makes such beautiful esters as butyric acid. Has anyone some ideas how to store this horrible stuff? At present I have it in the 25mL bottles it came in, inside a self-seal plastic bag, inside a glass jar, inside another glass jar, inside the corrosive cupbo...

Thanks Sue,
very worthwhile tips - Southern Biological are a tad expensive but we don't need many and the Wetherill Park people are going to send me a catalogue. Thanks again,

Re: Malachite

Sorry, all my contact for re-supply of rocks and minerals is not responding to many mobile phone calls. Maybe he has lost his phone? I know he has moved but I know not where. I will continue trying but in the meantime, home-made malachite may be the way. We have made our own in the past and it works...

Oyster bottles

Hi All,
does anyone remember the storage bottles, perfect for displaying mice, frogs, etc that are the old oyster bottle style? I would like to purchase some more for our biological specimens and any any help with a supplier would be appreciated.
Cheers,

Brains for dissection

Hi y'all, I have a teacher dissatisfied with the sheep brains we supply for dissections. Sometimes no cerebellum /pituitary glands....also the size is a bit small. The local abattoir is not interested in supplying anything bigger than sheep. Does anyone know of a supplier of something big (cow?) wit...

Re: Fume cupboard service

Hi Lisa, we are about to get a service from Mechatronics who supplied our nine fume cupboards last year when outfitting our new Science building. At an OH&S Inservice last year I learnt that it is ideal to have the fume cupboards serviced twice a year but we are seeing how it goes with a contrac...

Re: Duran/Schott Bottles

Hi Lisa, last time we went for the cheaper ones that were Schott look-alikes but were Chinese in manufacture. Whilst this is a good alternative for many things, we have decided NOT to go for the cheaper ones in this at least in future only because they do not pour or seal well. ie - they drip when t...
