Re: Enquiry
I have both ends of my compactus secured, and only the centre bit slides back and forth. There is less vibration and less risk of things falling off the shelves. It also gives me a place to store posters in the space between the wall and the first part of the compactus.

Re: cleaning benches after dissection
When I'm trying to keep the area sterile, such as for preparing agar plates, I wipe everything down with 70% ethanol with 30% water. When I did my Cert III in Laboratory Skills It was said to be the best dilution to use to sterilise an area. You could put that in your spray bottle.

Re: Dangerous Goods Deliveries
I once took delivery of a broken bottle of bromine water. :redcard: It wasn't immediately evident that it was broken, so I took delivery of it. As soon as I saw that it was broken I left it in its packaging and put it straight into a larger jar and put the lid on to seal it all in. I contacted the s...

Sorry, Annett I misunderstood what you were asking. This is what it says on the DET link: (I have had to remove some URLs that were included, because Chemtalk will let us use a maximum of 3 URLs) Chemical Safety in Schools (Updated 10 February 2016) Recent questions/queries on Asbestos in Talc and U...

Re: GHS Labeling
The quote above is all that is mentioned about GHS labelling in this issue, so the other bits that you can't access are about other things and probably of no interest to you anyway. I find it crazy that there is such a random mention of something that is so important to us and we have been asking fo...

Re: rat dissection
We sometimes buy rats. :yuck: We get them from Southern Biological. We have to buy the ones in preservative because we are too far away to buy frozen ones. They would thaw on the way here apparently. The preserved ones are ok as far as dissection goes, but the preservative they use is disgusting!! :...

Re: Pracs that are soley stationary supplies
Our faculty has a stash of that kind of stuff that we use for those pracs. I keep it stocked up when I order other stationery, so yes, I do supply it when requested.

Re: Disposal of animal specimens
I rang the local council and they were happy to take them off our hands. No charge!! :clap3: :clap3: The HT drove them (a car boot full of very smelly old yucky unspeakable things) :yuck: and the blokes at the recycling centre were fascinated and wanted to put them on display.  There'...
