preserved specimens to buy

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to buy preserved specimens such as a cows eyeball, starfish etc already in a proper sealed specimen container with liquid?

I hope so, as I couldn't do it myself on the account of me being squeamish.

Thanks Superbug

Re: Chemical Storage

Hi There, I use the incompatibility feature on chemwatch gold 3. I have my chemicals in the manifest and then do the incompatibility feature and it basically tells you what chemicals need to be removed in order to be safe. I hope that helps. sometimes those charts are impossible to work out (for me ...

Yes air blows out towards you, which isnt ideal as you will be blowing chemicals/fumes onto yourself.

Re: Fume cupboard in prep room

Hi Xenon,
We had 2 X double sided in the prep room and classrooms. However they both got closed off on the prep room side, as the motor wasnt strong enough for both sides.
So now I have none, but a lot of bench space.

Re: Student medications

Sorry, I didnt answer the question first asked. I dont think you need an SDS but you must ensure medication the company supplies eg eye wash solution and creams have not expired.
I hope this helps

Hi everyone, I was told by WHS Workcover experts that no aspirin or panadol etc should by supplied or given out by ANY workplace. Cause if something happens and they have a reaction or operate a vehicle or equipment and something happens, it comes back to the supplier- The workplace, as they shouldn...

Re: SDS + Chemwatch

hi Nickyinz, We would have volumes and volumes of folders with full MSDS's in the principals office. You could sprain your back carrying them out during an emergency. But I take your point about requiring a computer. I thought all chemicals require msds's. we even have msds for food colouring , glue...

Re: SDS + Chemwatch

We use mini msds's in the classroom, but we are currently working on getting the supplier msds's and solutions from chemwatch, which we are placing on a cd and distributing around our school. They will also be on a common drive. the list of chemicals saved will also act as a registry of chemicals co...

Re: sulfuric acid storage

Hi Dime,
Sorry these are solutions that I have had to make up in larger quantities. It would be nice to have a spout to easily decant the amount of sulfuric acid required.
The HCl is not an issue for leaks as we get them in bottles with 32% conc.
Thanks Cheers
