Storing electrical leadsl

Post by gotolady »

Good morning brains trust,
Hope the new year is treating you all well.
I have been asked to find a better way to store electrical leads. The teachers are sick of the leads being tangled and then breaking when the students try to separate them. At the moment they are put into large sandwich bags.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

We used to have all the croc leads clipped onto a Coat hanger .
One teacher suggested that the Clips were corroding because they are always in contact with a metal wire .

So I made one from PCV Conduit and drilled 4mm holes in it that the Banana plugs fit into .I just cut up a Coat hanger so we can still hang them up .

Jury is still out about whether there is any less corrosion happening .

As part of lead maintenance , I segregate leads that have become corroded ( usually due to students sparking them together  ).
These are kept as a special set for teachers that want to use them in conductivity pracs where they get wet , or have corrosive liquid on them .
The worst of the worst are kept for prac where they set steel wire on fire .

This way I have the newest leads only for Dry pracs and they are lasting much longer .

We do the same. Keep them on a wire hanger. Works well for us
