Hi Estelle

Don’t what to be an old stick in the mud or party popper!! but just be aware that there could be (unless stated on the material somewhere that it’s ok) copyright issues with making numerous copies for other people or schools????!!!!!

The Science Dimensions Teachers Editions also have the same sort of information which is on CD-ROM's. Each level has its own CD-ROM of information. There are risk assessment sheets for the student activities, risk assessment sheets for the lab technician, recipes for making up solutions of chemicals and methods of disposal amongst other things. The sheets have a disclaimer saying that sheets are provided to offer guidance only and that they should not be used in school laboratories until checked against the school's MSDS, signed and dated. At the moment any port in a storm has its value. It would be best to get your heads of depts out there to get in the teachers editions of whichever textbook you are using and get them to make sure beforehand that the Teacher Editions have this information. If this is the way that we have to work then we need the tools at our disposal to make our lives easier. Point out to the department heads that this will (supposedly) make their lives easier too.

Hi Estelle,
I thought I had submitted a reply to you earlier in the week asking for the SF RA's too, but it seems to have disappeared! Probably gone to the mythical land where the odd socks, teaspoons and No 2 Phillips Head Screw drivers have all gone!

We use SF 1, 2, 3, and 4, and I believe we have password access to the Pearson web site (although I have never personally used it!) So where do I find all the RA's that you have mentioned?

regards
Ian :-)

Hi Ian,

The Risk assessments are found under the heading of Teacher Resources and include risk assessments for the lab tech, the student or the teacher (if they are doing a demo). There are also recipes for the experiments too!

Regards,
Lou.

Let me know if the risk assessment files didn't get emailed to you. I tried to copy and paste the email addresses in one hit to save time so if you got it twice, sorry, and if you missed out put your email address here and I will send it on again.

Regarding copyright, I checked with the Pearson rep who sent it to me and she was more than happy for me to forward it on to anyone who wanted a copy.

Ian, if you me to email the file to you let me know.
Cheers
Estele

Hi Estelle,

I know this subject was quite a while ago but could you email the risk assessments to me too please??
I have been talking to some of our science teachers about these books and they are interested to have a look. We use Core Science 1-4 for our junior school.

Mueller@oxley.nsw.edu.au

Thanks Lorrae
