Hi again rae,
we don't even try to get this chemical out of boiling tubes but keep them stoppered in between and re-use.
The Chemical Science in Schools package does not recommend using naphthalene but lists safer alternatives.......
After a lot of fuss and expense, we got phenyl benzoate in from overseas but I don't like it as much as the naph.

Hi All,

You could try to gently heat the test tube until all residue evaporates.

Obviously do this in a fume cupboard.

Cheers,

Robb.....

(I also keep mine stoppered and stored until they are needed again).
