Microscope lamps

Microscope lamps come with clear glass windows or blue windows. Which is recomended please? And what use is each type?

I'm pretty sure you just use the clear ones most of the time. We don't use the blue ones.

Actually the blue ones are better for some kids with vision issues - I know because that applies to my child. Also it depends if you want a more diffuse light, perhaps to view greeblies in pond water etc. Sometimes very bright white light can be too busy diffracting. Lots of my microscope lamps used to have opaque lenses (like the old pearl lightbulbs).

I will buy the new ones with clear windows and maybe one blue one. Also answers the use of the frosted windows on some of my old ones.

You can also use filter paper over the top of the lamps if you need to defuse the light, I find it much more relaxing on the eyes.

I inherited Microscope lamps - none of them have any lenses at all!
