Geiger counters

Post by kase »

Can any one explain a bit about geiger counters. I've been asked to purchase one and wandered why some have GM tubes and holders and some don't. Do you need these tubes and holders? They are just as expensive as the counter! Would it be better to get the one with a built in tube and holder?

My first thought is, if you have dataloggers check if they have a giegercounter probe/sensor to match. Might be cheaper, or at least more versatile than a geiger counter on its own.

Secondly, I have no attachments to the geiger counter that we have, but it has been here much longer than I so I don't know if it has the built in things. Sorry this isn't much help, but check out your data logger supplier :)
