I was shocked when I heard this on the news.
Are experiments using blood not banned everywhere?
I hope they are all OK.

I can't access that site here at school (so many sites are blocked here). Could someone please give a brief description of what happened?

According to the ABC the Education Minister says the experiment breached her departments guidelines. But rogue teachers are out there. I had one a week ago, who incidentally has taught here all his career till he fell out with the boss and now only casually teaches. But he organised himself to burn coal in test tubes. When I found the mess I hit the roof and told him that the experiment is carcinogenic not to mention the destruction of the test tubes and bungs. It was outlawed with the introduction of CSIS, but they never check, and hadn't been done for years. I didn't dob to the boss (cause I don't like him either) but the teacher would have got a rap. If only he had done the correct thing in the first place and put an order in, I would have short-circuited the whole experiment.
And in the case of the Dover school, I'll bet the labbie wasn't consulted.

We do blood tests using the fake blood test kit we bought from a science supplier. If you want to actually determine students' blood types, then organize an excursion to the blood bank! They're usually happy to help. It gets kids through the door and maybe gets the blood bank a couple of new donors.

At the very least, and all other protocols aside, how much is a packet of lancets? #-o
Cheers, K 8-)

thats a great idea about the blood bank.
It maybe able to be tied in with a mobile donor bus to stop for the staff / snr students at school too.
