Tasting Electricity

Post by laurena »

We currently use a Prac called Tasting Electricity, unfortunately we find that it does not give us the best results, as we are unaware whether the students are feeling the tingling reaction or the wire.

Salt Water Solution
Carbon Electrode
Zinc Electrode
Two wires attached to electrodes and place onto the tongue.

Does anyone have any experiments or ideas that may assist our year 8 classes.

Joh,

Sorry I didnt explain myself very well, in the experiment Tasting Electricity, we use salt water with two wires, that have attached a pce of carbon electrode and zinc electrode and the students touch these wires onto the tongue.

It is very safe and causes no trouble to the heart.

Jo

Try sticking a piece of copper wire (cleaned) and a straightened paper clip into a lemon. Then get the kids to stick their tongues on both wires at once. Easy and disposable.

Cheers, Kristin
