Chromatography Column and Sephadex

Post by Merilyn1 »

Hello All
The chemistry teacher has asked me to order a chromatography column with "some sephadex". SSA have the column, but don't list a price. I've googled sephadex and it's a trade name for a type of gel (?), but can't find a supplier. I'm assuming that he is intending to use the sephadex in the column. Has anyone bought a chromatography column recently? Do you remember how much it cost? Does anyone have one already and what do you use in it?

Thanks

I googled 'Sephadex' and found 'GE Healthcare Life Sciences' who supply it in a variety of sizes - super fine to coarse - at upwards of $300 for 100g.
Way out of my price bracket!

Spend more than his fair share of the budget? :D I'm not familiar with the prac and he would be proud to call himself "old school" except he hasn't been teaching long enough for that title!
