Radioactive isotopes

I have had a teacher ask if it is a requirement to put a radiation warning sign on the classroom door when using radioactive isotopes in the classroom. Is anyone able to provide information on this?

From my understanding , it is not a requirement according to the CSIS manual ....unlike using a Laser , where a sign must be hung on the door .

ok thanks. The teacher did mention the laser sign so I will have to make one up for that.

Sorry about the poor quality but this is from the CSIC manual .It is meant to be black legend and border on a yellow back ground.
This might give you an idea . Pleased you asked because I just realized our old signs don't comply.

Does the CSIC reference where it is written that a sign is required? Or is it just their own safety measure. I've just had a prac has just come through using lasers (we didn't use them at my old school) and am wondering if I should do this (I am not in NSW)

Has anyone else had a directive to dispose of Radioactive Isotopes we only just purchased new ones in 2021. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the source sets that are available through our suppliers... when they are past their active date you can peal off the stickers and they can go in the bin.

We have not been given a directive to get rid of any of our sources.... all super safe anyway.

Where did the directive come from? I haven't seen or heard anything (private school, nsw). I just bought a new one this year!

I waiting for clarification at the moment. We only just bought a new set in 2021 I don't want to get rid of them and don't see a need to. Our Princple is going into back for us.

Maybe someone new that's freaked out without actually knowing.
