The forum has been running less than ideal lately .
I notice that there are at present 27,000 guests .
A week ago there was a highest ever over 70,000 guests .
I belong to several other phpBB forums and one was rended completely useless for several months with these thousands of Bots scrapping though the forum .
I hope it doesn’t get worse here .
It took the other forum owner several weeks to keep them out .

Hi bigmack. So that's what's been going on. Sux. Stupid AI. Did you know an AI-assisted google search uses about ten times more power than one without? Our school has made the default a search without AI.

Re: Bots attacking forum
and July 9 would have been school holidays for most states, if not all of them. I can't imagine 71,000 labbies getting on chemtalk in their holidays (as much as I love this forum and my job
!!)

Re: Bots attacking forum
What ever Westlab is doing is working great . Other forums I am on are now regularly crashing and dead for hours due to these Bot attacks , often with less than 1000 guests .
Chemtalk regularly has 35,000 "guests" online and it is chugging along nicely .
Lets hope it stays this way .
