Certificate III in Lab Skills

Post by Pm706Narrogin »

This year we've started offering a Cert III in Lab Skills in Year 11. We're paying for course material from an RTO and safe to say what's been provided has been less than impressive. In some cases, required/helpful documents haven't been written yet or what we've got has been...interesting. Their SOP for diluting solutions suggests adding acid to water for crying out loud #-o

Combine that with a relatively new teacher delivering the course and we're finding we're having to put a lot of effort into polishing the hands-on stuff that's provided or trying to find things we have that would be suitable for the kids to tick off their course requirements. Not that we mind but it feels like at times we're going well above our pay grade to create something that's half-decent for the kids' sake.

I was wondering if anyone here has worked at a school that has offered a Cert course delivered through the school and how you got things up and running? Have we just landed a dud when it comes to getting resources? It feels like there should be a lot more support/guidance/info out there but I can't find much.

Any help/ideas to work smarter not harder would be greatly appreciated

Isn't that what you're supposed to do :whistling2:
Although , I think it should be more directive than just a suggestion

And this is why I shouldn't do things right before going home.

The SOP says put the acid into a dry beaker and then dump water into it as if that's okay
