Silform
Hi All!
Some people at St Mary's were talking about a company called Silform. I had a quick look on the internet and didn't find a website. Does anyone have a phone number or email address for them so I can ask for a catalogue?
Thanks,
Rosalie

Hi Rosalie,
P.O. Box 58
Childers QLD 4660
Tel (07)4126 3631
Fax (07) 4126 3634
Be careful as the quality of these reagents may not meet your expectations, I do purchase some but not a lot... I only purchase those I know are going to have no effect on purity.....
Only my expectations though!!
Cheers,
Robb.....

Re: Silform
That wasn't the impression I got from others at the conference. I think I'll just stick to wherever we get them from now. I already get enough catalogues and if it isn't really worth the effort I think I'll just stay off their mailing list. Thanks anyway!

Hi Rosalie,
Your decision is purely your own.
My experience in the Chemical Industry and the acadamia side of things show me that you do take considerable care in which reagents to purchase regarding quality, purity, and expectations.
Thanks again,
Cheers,

Re: Silform
Has anyone ordered from this company lately? I am waiting for an order that I placed in November last year!
Everytime I go to cancel he tells me that it is on the way.
I think that the company must wait until they collect lots of orders then they get a supply on the slow boat from China.
I won't be ordering from them again, it doesn't seem worth the $$ savings.

Re: Silform
Hi Rosalie & Estelle,
I put an order in with Silform in October last year, I got most of the order about 6 weeks later, and I had slinkys on back order and I rang only last Friday and was told I would have to pay freight on them which could be $30-40. I told him not to worry about them. They are much cheaper, for equipment and chemicals but they have high freight cost are as slow as a wet week. This is my experiences with them, and I have used them in different schools too and it is the same, I too wont buy from them again.
Cheers

Re: Silform
I have bought from them from time to time. I go with Robb's statement. If you want lots of something that doesn't matter TOO much, then go for it. I also picked up some bargains once, in sale priced beakers etc.
Regarding delivery, well.... I live in Qld, and I still get things faster from suppliers from Yamba NSW (wherevere that is) and Victoria. And just when I think I won't bother again, I'll get really prompt delivery on something.
Might be one of those factors, like when the moon is in the third quarter of Venus, then the order will be delivered to the east side of the Admin building. Maybe I should check with Robb first?

Re: Silform
I realise this won't win me too many friends but......does anyone else find some of Rob's posts a tad incomprehensible??!
Re: Silform
Hi Rosalie
I have Silform chemicals in stock because they were ordered previously and they are painful to get MSDS's from. They are paranoid about their MSDS info being stolen, so they wont put it online. You have to fax them, then wait...... until they email them back - in Microsoft Publisher format!! Everyone else puts their MSDS's in PDF. Oh well..
Regards
Sue G
