yes it does.
You can make elecric current go through a lemon by poking electrodes into the lemon. :yuck:

I've had (a bit) more success using an LED.

You might not have enough current to light up a globe. Try a multimeter

A Galvanometer works really well with lemons so it should work with citric acid solution. I just tell the teachers that the globes don't work with this prac (in fact have never worked with this prac) and provide them with the galvanometers instead.

Yes, use an LED. They are very cheap and though they dont make much of a glow if the students wrap their hands around them and look inside they can see the glow. I find red ones are the best.

yes, worked really well once i changed to a meter. No success with the LED though.
