Hi all,
Just remember that the ChemWatch ChemGold web-based program and the CD-based system are slightly different and the purchase of one isn't the purchase of the other. For places where a stand-alone system is OK, the CD-based system is the way to go.

I always thought Chemwatch on net was too slow for Labels /MSDS etc
So conned Dept head to purchase Chemwatch on disc $80 / year 4 upgrades every 3 months

I agree with Ocker. The net chemwatch for me, is too slow & aukward.

We also have the disk that I use to generate the labels. That way its also a back-up in case the network/net is having issues.

If you want to buy/subscribe to the disc version do you do that via the website?

Not sure.. but I think that we phoned them and requested. Or maybe e mail.Contact as website

We have been in touch with Chemwatch, and I received some information to day. A 6 page brochure, cost about $80.00 + GST each year. My head teacher will read through the brochure, and guess make up his mind. Its the disc's, you people have been so very helpful, indeed. When some thing is strange, it just great to get some really good help.

Hi folks, I have received more information from chemwatch, the training is quite a price. Was it easy to pick up using the CD's
Did you have training on the CD's
Is their written instructions on how to use the CD's

Perhaps you wonderful people that paid for chemwatch, could answer the above questions.

No I didn't have any training but probably that would be a help.

There is a full Technical Manual on the opening page under Documentation and this gives step by step instructions. A lot of the operations are really aimed at large industrial firms. Even so I find the disks better than the online program.

There are help features on the disk.Think theres training documents on that as well.
And yes training is pricey.
Once you have it, you can work it out/use the helps/ask around. Do you plan to use it for Manifest? I would suggest that you still use the Net Chemwatch for the Manifest.

Hi all - yeah, the discs contain training info and its fairly easy to pick up - just stick with it. As far as I'm aware, NSW DET schools can't use the web-based system for their manifests, so the CD is the only way for them to go.

Thank you so much folks. We are going to purchase the CD's, I put all the information down from chemtalk, and the board deceided it was a OH&S issues, so it should arrive next term.

Yes; I use the web-based ChemGold site all the time, but I also have the CDs as a backup and because the label function on the CD is less "clunky".

yes sue, there are two different costs involved. The stand alone Cd costs about $90 for your schools site licence & software.

Our diocese has paid for all the Catholic Secondary Colleges in the district to be on Chemwatch Gold, on the net. However, I'm still receiving the CD's - don't know why. However this week I discovered the difference between producing labels on the CD compared to the net, and the CD version wins hand-down. I e-mailed a query on how to produce a page of labels with 2 of each type of chemical, and received no response. So I just went back to the CD version and did it there.

Did anyone ever come up with a solution to the printing problem with the labels on Chemwatch? Is there a way to remove the box that allows you to alter the positions and font sizes?

Yes I believe you need to copy and paste useing a word document. Its not much fun.

I did find solution , you have to save label as a PDF file, (adobe or you can download your own PDF from net it is free download)
I do have step by step instructions how to do it and if you are interested I can send you instructions, but I have to worn you it is time consuming
