Hi Everyone
Re: Yr 7 and animals
We have our nature walks and collecting bugs and examining them with microscopes and magnifying glasses. There is a collection of vertebrates and invertebrates to look at in class. I am interested to know what pracs you may do with Year 7 and bugs/animals.

Re: Yr 7 animals/bugs
Hi
We have just been collecting ferns, moss, lichen, gymnosperms and flowering plants to classify.
And we have looked at pond specimens under the microscopes.
Other things are looked at on paper. I don't have to collect them.
Cheers

Good for classification pracs and dichotomous keys. Also looking at exo and endo skeletons.
Hope this helps

Try a key wings seen/or not, mouthpart types, antennae shape, plant/ground dwellers etc.

Re: Yr 7 animals/bugs
Hi again
A teacher mentioned fish heads and gills. I approached the local fish market and obtained a number of fish heads with gills (no cost-their waste product). Prac went so well the other teachers had asked for them too. The smell was getting to some people after the six classes had done their pracs. Glen 20 is a wonderful product!
