Hi everyone, I have a prac asking for waxed microscope slides for senior science. Help? Do I buy these already prepared or is there a way to create my own. Thanks

I haven't ever been asked for this, but see if you can get a copy of the prac from the teacher, to give you an idea what they are doing. I have made waxed paper in the past for juniors, so maybe you could use the same method. Melt parrafin wax pellets, then dip a slide into the wax, perhaps holding with tweezers. Set aside to cool - which happens pretty quickly. Coat one side or two? Find out a little more what is required. Cheers

Senior Science students have just done this prac. my wax coated slides have been made by dipping them (both sides) into melted parafin wax. Once they have been made for the first time they then can be used time and time again.

The prac involves squares of glass, perspex, plastic, copper and the microscope slides with different liquids to see what happens to the liquids when placed drop by drop onto the surface. Thanks everyone for your replies. I will give it a go
