melting point of lauric acid

Post by Krysia Lee »

Hi Guys
Does anyone know how to test the melting point of lauric acid. Would I by any chance put it in a test tube in a water bath and then when its melted pop a thermometer in and get the temperature at which it soldifies. Thats working backwards I guess.
Can anyone let me know the way they do it.
Thanks Krysia

Hi,
If you type "Lauric Acid melting point" into Google, then toward the bottom of the page is a Word doc called "Lauric Acid Lab" that has the experiment all set out for you, complete with introductory information, preliminary questions, experiment, post experiment questions etc, etc. You just need to print out a class set!!

I LOVE Google!
(it makes me look so clever!!)

Speaking of Google, did everyone see the Pac Man 30th Anniversary Google banner on the weekend? Very clever! (a playable Pac Man game around the "Google" name) (Type "www.google.com/pacman" into your web browser) apparently it cost the US economy $120 million in lost productivity over the weekend through people playing it! Brought back memories from my youth!

Cheers

I had heard about the pacman thing but hadn't seen it - just had a quick look... Should have turned the sound off first!! Might have to check it out when I get home. The google people are very clever, even if they didn't know how to spell!!
