Hi all,
Trying to find the info in CSIS on laser use!
We havent used ours in years! I remember something about covering all shiny surfaces and having a sign up 'laser in use'
thats it!

Re: Lasers
Info is found in Vol II 3.2.4.7 of CSIS and in Working in Science page 68.
Re: Lasers
The ARPANSA code is being updated, this is the draft form, dated August 2011...

Re: Lasers
Hi all
Does anyone know the rules regarding use of Lasers in QLD schools ?
I've heard conflicting advise .Some say Red is OK but Green is not .Some say neither are allowed .

Re: Lasers
On the Qld Government- Education web page "Science experiments, investigations and activities" which can be found on the link below, it states "Follow the Safety Guide for the Use of Radiation in Schools (RPS 18) and manufacturers’ instructions when using lasers. Use the lowest power laser product required for the particular purpose. It is expected that only class 1 and class 2 laser products are used in schools." which can be found on the second link below.

Hope this helps you.

Re: Lasers
Thanks Debbie
That was really useful .
So what I read is that the general teaching staff may use the Class 1 and 2 Lasers as long as they don't exceed 1mW as laser pointers or for general light demonstrations . Same as anyone in QLD
However , The Physics teachers can use higher power Lasers as long as they do all the risk assessment stuff .
That was what I was hoping to hear.
