Morning,
Just after some information on a small industrial distillation Unit, are we allowed to have on school premises and if so does it have to be set up outside? Would it be considered a pressure unit needing someone with a pressure certificate to install? As far as I'm aware it is being used to extract oils. Have no idea how it is to be heated at this stage.
Any incite would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Distillation Units
In general Stills are not pressure units .Oil extraction stills generally have a Boiler of water , the steam passes through a basket holding the botanicals and the extracted oil comes out the end of either a condenser or bubbles through a container of water , the oils floating to the top for collection .
So in theory there should be almost no pressure other than a bit of back pressure caused by the botanicals .
larger units can have a steam generator . These types are a continuous feed of water but the water feed rate and boiler power are automatically regulated to maintain a safe working pressure . Again they should be fairly safe .
Hope this helps .
A picture of your intended still or a link could help .
