Tartaric acid

Hi all,
I need to make a tartaric acid solution.........should I just use a "spoonful" to 250 or 500ml of water???

Don't you love it when teachers can't give specific instructions. Wouldn't you love to put one spec into a litre of water, then listen to them when the prac doesn't work.
Otherwise Helen, I'd go with what you suggested.

Yeah, either bucket chemistry or perhaps a percentage solution - 1% up to 10% (1g per 100ml, 10g per 100ml). Apart from that the drawback with the one spec in a litre of water is that you end up copping the flak for the prac not working and that sucks.

Thanks Lyn and Merilyn,
I actually had a bright thought (for once!) and I googled the molecular weight of tartaric and made up a 0.1M solution.
It was for investigating science.......just reactions
