Breeding Crickets? mealworm adults?

Post by Berrygem »

Hi,
Foolishly trying to save the school some money...
Does anyone breed their own crickets? How do you do it?
seen a few YouTube videos but asking in case anyone has an excellent method :D What can you do with excess crickets? Can humans eat them as an alternative protein...be good for science week next year.... :cheesy:
Going to breed them in same atrium as reptiles so hoping that will not have to content with the smell too much.

mealworms look to easy leave (with oats/barn and apple slices) and forget(ish) -hoping that the blue tongues will like the adults too. What do you do with the adults? Anyone using them for fishing?

A friend used to breed some type of larve in a big truck under hessian sacks -fed them carcesses... was in Africa, ah childhood memories of eating in the dark so we did not see all the insects coating the mashed potato..

many thanks in advance

You joke but I remember a uni open day where they had some sustainability PhD students offering free samples of cricket cookies. Don't worry they ground them up first to make it less obvious :cheesy:
