Thats the really silly thing - office max prices a slightly higher than if I was to go to Big W for eg. if the lipsof the beakers chip, leaving sharp edges, you can 'melt' the sharp edges down by holding them over the bunsen...gives them a bit longer life...

I have been asked to prepare a prac that uses amonuim nitrate that produces cold packs. The only prob is that it is for year 8, and ammonium nitrate is not suitable t according to the CSIS for year 8s. Has anyone done this prac, and can you recomend another chem to use that is safe for year 8? Thank...

what if we were able to buy the beaker mugs whilst at conference. I am sure that the buying power of the conference would be a bit stronger than an individual. If we ordered say 300 beaker mugs and sold them to cover costs (i am sure people would buy one for them, and one or 2 for their department) ...

I also googled them - they look so great! maybe we could see if we could get them for the science conf this year, that way a larger order will be cheaper for freight etc. I was also amused at the sites other gifts....the periodic table shower curtain - thats a must have for any safety shower :giggle:
