Re: Distilled Water
Very interesting, I am begrudgingly using a bench top still, but am interested in alternatives that are more water efficient, and the replacement filters don't cost a fortune. Do those Millipore filters fall into this category. If so, like Rosalie,I would like to know where to purchase them, and a ro...

Re: Agricultue Equipment
Richard,
Perhaps you could grow something edible on him, then he could double as the morning tea trolley! At least that way, he would be more welcome in the front office.(maybe)
Ian,
I agree, great avatar.Defineately a bit of "mad scientist" about it!
Cheers,
Lisa

Thanks Robb,
Could you tell me if it is the same explaination for the the Iron solutions I mentioned earlier? I can't remember which experiment it is, but the teachers ask me to acidify the solution to prevent it changing to another Iron??(or something like that)
Cheers,
Lisa

Re: CuSO4
Hi Sassi, I've never added anything to my Copper Sulphate solutions, but the teachers sometimes ask me to acidify Iron solutions. The reason, I think, is that the iron ones can change into something else if they are not acidified.(You can tell I'm NOT a chemist either!!) I'm sincerely hoping Robb wil...

Richard, (and Ian)
You guys crack me up!!! I can tell you the Chemtalk site wasn't the same while you were on holidays. The antics of your animals provide some much needed light relief!
Keep it up,
Cheers,
Lisa
P.S. Some photos would be good. I've never seen a green sheep!!

Re: data logger purchase
Hi Joy, Our Physics teachers purchased, and used last term,Go-motion from Haines. So far, so good. They say it is easy to use, and does everything that they need it to do. I suppose it is a bit early to know if we going to have problems with repairs etc. It comes with it's own software, too, so I am ...

Re: beakers
Hi Rosalie, I have a variety of both in my collection. By that I mean some of my beakers are graduated to their volume. I've noticed that the Schott/Duran, and Kimax brand are not graduated to their volume, but just about all of the Pyrex brand are. A lot of my stock was here before me, so I wouldn'...

Young's Double slit Apparatus
Hi All,
I am wondering if anyone has purchased, or knows any suppliers of, a Young's Double slit Apparatus. We would like to buy one, but our main supplier here in S.A, says he has not been able to source any for many years. Any leads appreciated.
Cheers,
Lisa

Re: Test Tube Quality
Richard,
I was pleased to read that outcome. I treat my co-workers the same as you, and it is not fair when others do not act in a professional manner, simply because they do not like you. Good for you, and my regards to Brian. I think he should become the Chemtalk mascot!!!
Cheers,
Lisa

Re: How many of us wear Lab coats??
I wear mine at all times, while on school grounds. In the past, when I have taken it off to pop out for something, I have gotten strange looks from other staff members, who can't quite place where they know me from!!! Nice to know I only have to take my coat off to become anomynous!!

Good for you, Richard. I can't believe someone else has the authority to just change your well researched orders like that! Seems a bit ridiculous to spend years aquiring all that knowledge and experience, only to have someone with NO knowledge and experience go and change it without your consent. K...

Re: Lunar Eclipse
Thankfully, the cloud cleared here in S.A. in time, and the eclipse was a beautiful sight. However,it didn't seem as red as the last one I watched, or the interstate pics on the news bulletins. Robb, is there a reason for this? Does it have to do with the distance of the moon from earth. I remember ...

Sue, I was going to ask the same question as Lorrae. Do you know if it is available in all States? Just in case it isn't, could you provide a contact no. for your Dept. of Ed. I figure while I'm sorting the Risk Assessments, I might as well do the S.O.P's as well. Thanks to all for your assistance. ...
