Would anyone share their method for making a seismograph?
Re: seismograph
From memory Silicon Chip Magazine had a project a couple of years ago
If you contact Jaycar electronics they usually make a kit to any SC project

Re: seismograph
There is a nifty little iPhone/iTouch app called "iSiesmometer" that gets a lot of use around here.

Re: seismograph
Sorry Merilyn, I was not able to work out the details for making my own iPhone. My "Reverse Engineering" skills are deteriorating with old age.
I seem to remember that one of our teachers would suspend a large mass (200 - 500g) from a retort stand with a spring. She would tape a texta to the mass and move a piece of paper under the contraption as somebody bumped the desk. The vibrating desk (relative to the texta) would transcribe a wobbly line on the paper.
The iPhone app is still better, cos it graphs movement in 3 dimensions, not just 1, but it does not work well without an iPhone/iPad/iTouch. You have got me there. Perhaps you could tape the texta to your Windows7 phone and suspend it from a retort stand with a spring???
