CD Hovercrafts
HI Everyone
We have a Science Activity Day coming up and needless to say I am the one getting most of it ready.
I was hoping to put together the prac which creates a CD hovercraft but am having trouble sourcing the pop up/down drink bottle tops (like the top of a pump bottle). Does anyone have an ideas where I could source them - have tried eBay and am trying to avoid buying full bottles and drinking juice or water to excess in the next few weeks !
Thanks
Rita

Hi Rita,
I have seen them at Reverse Garbage at Marrickville - a bit far from you but you might have a similar recycling/reuse place nearby??

Re: CD Hovercrafts
Why can't your school staff and the students be asked to help. I'm sure there are quite a few people who use this type of drink container. Does it matter if the tops are different? You can sterilise any tops bought in by using bleach.

Yes!!!! Pretty much wishful thinking.
Re: CD Hovercrafts
You could always buy the bulk packs of pop top water and use the water inside for reagent prep? (in lieu of distilled water)

Re: CD Hovercrafts
How do you make a CD Hovercraft?
Re: CD Hovercrafts
If you Google something like "CD hovercraft" you should get the instructions and videos. Basically you glue the bottle cap to the centre of the CD (this allows you to control the flow rate), put a blown up balloon over the top, then let it go!
