BROMINE, IODINE & CHLORINE WATER.

CHLORINE, BROMINE & IODINE WATER PREPARATION.

1. CHLORINE WATER.
Commercial Bleach 575.0 ml.
Hydrochloric Acid 2M. HCl 425.0 ml.

2. BROMINE WATER.
Potassium Bromide 0.2M. KBr 855.0 ml.
Potassium Bromate. KBrO3 0.75 gm.
Hydrochloric Acid 2M. HCl 145.0 ml.

3. IODINE WATER.
Water. H2O 980.0 ml.
Potassium Iodate. KIO3 a few crystals.
Potassium Iodide 0.2M. KI 5.0 ml.
Hydrochloric Acid 2M. HCl 5.0 ml.

lol never too late for some one :)

what we did this year was take video footage and still pictures of the experiment being preformed by the capable labbie (me) so it can be used in a presentation. As we have only one fume cupboard, two full classes on at the same time and the students are so slow working the talk was to take it out altogether so not to slow the classes up any more and keep form getting behind and having to skim units. this way the kids miss out on the smell , danger and hands on experience but at least get to see it done and it can be disucssed at more length.....

why did i share this no idea just had the urge.

Hi everyone,
Just catching up on chemtalk for the past week or so as I have been busier than a trout swimming upstream!
Dolphinscales, I think your idea is a good one and can think of least one other experiment I'd do that for ... sugar and H 2 SO 4
Saves time and mess. Good one!
