Sodium Phosphate Tribasic Hydrated MSDS????
Hi Folks, while culling all our chemicals, I have found a Sodium Phosphate Tribasic Hydrated MW 380.16 in with some old ones from Gov Stores. The MW 380.16 lookes in good condision, but I can not find any MSDS on this item. Should I use it or discard it???

Have a look through your sources for the MSDS and search for Tri Sodium Phosphate Dodecahydrate. (Sodium Phosphate Tribasic).
If you can't find this let me know and I will Fax a copy to you.

Sodium Phosphate Tribasic Hydrated MSDS????
From the CSIS book and SI chemical data book this appears to be Sodium Phosphate Na[sub]3[/sub]PO[sub]4[/sub].12H[sub]2[/sub]O and you will be able to find a MSDS for that.
I have 3 bottles from Gov Stores days but haven't used them in the 7 years I have been here.
I have been doing my MSDS over the last week and have spent a lot of time trying to sort out Sodium Phosphate, Sodium Phosphate di basic, Sodium orthophosphate, Sodium phosphate monobasic, Tri Sodium orthophosphate and other similar names. I wish those ancient bottles had formulae on them it would make life a bit simpler.

Sodium Phosphate Tri-Basic MSDS
Hi Pommy,
I will fax a copy of the relevant MSDS to you, all I nedd is your fax number and it will be on its way.
Sodium Phosphate Tribasic OR Na[sub]3[/sub]PO[sub]4[/sub].12H[sub]2[/sub]O is the correct formula of it's name as mentioned. Be careful though as there are other forms of the Sodium Phosphate (Mono, Di Basic just to name a few) but from the formula you have given this is the correct one.

The easiest way to find any MSDS is to goggle it, in search window type formulae or chemical name followed by MSDS that will be enough to find MSDS for any chemical you need.

You can download an MSDS for this (and for many other things) from the Chem-Supply Ptry Ltd website http://www.chemtalk.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=451 In this case you will need to do an alpha search under T for the more formal name Tri Sodium Orthophosphate dodecahydrate. Chem-Supply lists MSDSs for all their designated hazardous substances- in this case it is designated Hazardous, though it would be at the very lower end of the scale.
Chem-Supply (based here in Adelaide) is a very good source of manufacturer/ supplier MSDSs (if you don't subscribe to ChemWatch) as it is a very major supplier of school lab chemicals around Australia, so information will be current.
