Year 8 endothermic Prac
Year 8 endothermic Prac
We have recently been doing a topic on "Energy and Sound", however we are looking at changing our experiments and would like some other Endothermic experiments, has anyone got some ideas for our year 8 class.
We have previously used - Calcium Oxide in Water and Phenolphthalene in Sodium Hydroxide.
We would also appreciate some input in Year 8 chemical reaction - experiment is - Baking soda and enough vinegar to cover baking soda - turn on a fan too speed 1 and record observation.

Endothermic and Esters
Hi Teresa,
This could possibly be done, although I am passing a lot of information from my own work and I am glad to pass this onto all my colleagues whom wish to have it.

Re: Year 8 endothermic Prac
Welcome back everyone! I have a quick question for all the knowledgeable people in Labby Land.
I have had a request from our HT for some very old Chemistry experiments. Some I have already told him we can no longer do. Are ANY exothermic experiments allowed? If so, which ones?
Thanks
Julie

Very cool (hot?) bizzos that you can get from ProfBunsen or a Geographic shop. They are little package of a super-saturated solution. When you "click" a little metal disk in the corner of the bag, then shock wave from it causes the solution to crystallize, whichis an exothermic reaction. Afterwards, you boil the little bags for 10 mins and the crystals go back to a solution. Can be used over & over. ProfBunsen is one of my favourite suppliers.

Thanks Smiley.
I actually have one of those things at home, never thought of that. So potassium permanganate, sugar, glycerol etc are out of the question?
