surface area to volume ratio

Our Biology class is doing the prac with a phenolphthalein agar cubes. I am not sure (and neither is the teacher) what strenghth HCl is needed?. Is it 0.1M

We use 0.1M sulfuric acid

We use 0.1M NaOH in the blocks and 0.1M HCl in the beakers.
