I need to find a piece of silicon large enough to grab with aligator clips......I have looked through the order catalogues and I can't find anything I can use.........any ideas would be great

Not sure if silicon you buy for repairs to showers is pure enough, but if it is squeeze some out on a tile. Let set then lift off the tile with a blade then you have a piece of silicon the size you want. Hope it will work :oops

If this is for the metals (conductors) and non-metals (insulators), just use a piece of glass rod or tube. Pure silicon is very expensive and most of the electronic industry sources have been doped with other metals to allow then to conduct under certain conditions, hence transistors and intergrated circuits, solar sells etc.
Silicon is one of those that sit half way between metals and non-metals and does conduct given the right conditions.
