Who puts their cooking utensils through the dishwasher

only science stuff thru the dishwasher - not even my coffee cup.

I cringe when a teacher will come in to use a science knife for their fruit for lunch!

I send anything up to the kitchen dishwasher, esp if i have borrowed a jug or whatever for jelly etc.

Longer answer, if i had run a cleaning solution such as bleach (can you do that?) and clean water several times, then I may.

Not if I intended to ever cook with them again.

Sure, in theory the idea of the dishwasher is that it thoroughly cleans the wares of all contaminants. But in practice, it's just plain safer not to risk it.

That is what I used to say, but I arrived back at work today (just had 2 weeks of school holidays) and there was my nice new dishwasher!! Already put my first load!

What cleaning detergent do you use? It came with 30 Finish powerball tablets. Just wondering if I should buy these again when they run out or there is something better or cheaper but just as good? Never had a dishwasher before in my life (at home or work) so it is all new to me.

I used to use Finish powder, it cleans well, and is cheaper than the blocks

i use the finish all in one but am thinking of changing to the classic as there really isn't that much 'grease and grime' on lab stuff. I tried some cheaper ones and they don't seem to do much - more the phychological value of having put something in there. I don't use powder because I'm pretty sure if I had it I would lose more of it on the floor knocking it over on my crowded bench tops and also the tablets are so quick and easy. I've worked out that Big W bulk packs are the cheapest way to buy them. I don't use the tablets every time, either. Often the glassware just needs a better clean than what the kids give it so I just put it through on the half hour quick wash with no soap. The rinse aid still makes them nice and sparkly If anything comes out less than clean after that then it goes through the next round with some detergent on a longer setting. Hope this info helps

Our school is going to renovate the labs and I was asked for a wishlist. One item I really want is a dishwasher. What brands do you guys have.
I noticed Wayne got his only last year, what brand is it?

Hi All,

We have two dishwashers, SORRY! Our Bosch is only a year old and has broken already, and guess what no spare parts in Australia so not recommended! I have big red signs on mine that say no crockery, Ive tried to add but not sure how to do so fingers crossed!
