Hi Kazza,

There are some hints for cleaning a van der graff in the science lab manual and on the rtg website.

Hi Kazza,

Look in the main forum listing - Biology, Physics. You will find the van de graaf info there.

i thought a little brass'o would do the trick. We dont use the Van De Graph machine up here in Darwin that much. Doesnt like the humidity.

Brasso is pretty heavy duty which is fine on heavily oxidised metals but for a softer polish use Silvo - both very very good. They work beautifully on the alloy/stainless steel/aluminium on my restored motorcycles I can tell you and I'm a FUSSY bugger! There is also a mag wheel cleaner that comes in the form of cotton wadding in a tin - not sure of the name but it works a treat on van der graafs. I'll find out for you. Cheap too!

if you do a search in chemtalk for 'van' you will get to the previous discussion on this. Might give you some more clues.
